Summer Recap

At the time of this writing, I'm officially 10 hours away from my first class.  Everyone says the same thing but this summer definitely has gone by in a flash.  In the beginning, after a nerve racking spring semester, I looked forward to some down time, only to feel anxious and bored by the second day.

I spent 2 days re-caulking my bathroom to try to keep myself busy.  At day 4, I met with some friends at Alum Rock Park to discuss our summer plans.  One had just scored a full time job.  The other was in the process of getting a full time job.  I felt a little out of place, I had applied to 3 internship opportunities and had heard nothing.

Until I got back to my car.  I checked my voice mail and was offered an interview at this small company in Los Gatos for the day after.  So, I clean myself up, suit up for the interview and go through my first 3 hour interview.  I was scared but confident in what I was saying.  I get called 2 hours after my interview with a job offer.

For the next 10 weeks, I work 6 days a week, approximately 50 hours a week between the internship and my library job.  It's stressful but I have no other choice because I depend on the library job for health insurance.  Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays I work at the internship; Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays I work at the library.  Thursdays I wake up to drive my brother to work and go swimming.  Amazingly, I find time to be social (somewhat).

I had an opportunity to reconnect with some old friends and say goodbye to some new ones, as well as meet some new friends and say goodbye to some old ones.  It's always a little sad when the summer ends but there will always be new beginnings so I stay optimistic for the coming months.

Pics from my family Tahoe trip.  Enjoy and look forward to some bitching about school stress in following posts ;)

IHS Class of 2000

I recently let one of my friends take a look at my old high school year book.  Naturally, I hadn't seen it myself in a long time so I sat down to thumb through it.  I don't know about you but I always get a little teary eyed looking through this thing.

All the cool people you met in high school, some you still are in contact with and some are lost in the chaos of life.

Memories of outtings where going to In and Out Burger and hanging out in the parking lot past 10PM, thinking that we were cool.

Planning BBQs and bond fires for the first time and almost setting the surroundings ablaze.

Winning with your school team and celebrating afterwards with pizza and root beer.

Dealing with the social agony of the Senior Ball and realizing that its not too bad when you just go with the flow.

Walking down that aisle with the graduation song playing and using every physical and emotional will to hold back those tears.

Etc., etc., etc., ...

I miss high school and all the people that made my experience memorable.

I hope this post finds its way to you because I really do believe those were some of the best years of my life.
